Our Mission

At Focus Tools, our mission is to thoughtfully curate proven focus tools and sensory supports that bridge the gap between classrooms, specialists, and families—making it simpler to build calm, effective learning environments while lightening the load on teachers and parents.

Our Vision

We envision inclusive schools and homes where every child has practical, teacher-approved tools to regulate, engage, and thrive. By connecting evidence-informed products with real-world classroom insight, we aim to be a trusted partner to educators, therapists, and families seeking sustainable, compassionate support.

Hi, I’m Seth — a former Steiner primary teacher and now the founder of Focus Tools. In a Steiner school you build such deep relationships with the children and their families as you teach their child all the way from class 1 to 6 before handing them to another guardian. For 16 years i lead multiple classes through this cycle. My classroom was colourful, lively, and full of laughter. The best part was always the relationships: getting to know each child, celebrating their quirks, and building connections that lasted long after the school bell stopped or they graduated in grade 10. That sense of joy and care still anchors everything I do.

Eventually, the mix of external and internal pressures became too heavy, and I had to step back from full-time teaching. Look I can’t fix the whole system, but my hope is i can make life a bit lighter for the people in it. I care deeply about teacher well-being—about making sure teachers feel appreciated, supported, listened to, and cared for.

Focus Tools is my way of turning that care into something practical. I careful consider tools that help children regulate and focus—and hope to bridge the gap and strengthen to connection between classrooms, families, and specialists—so teachers and parents get back a little time, a little calm, and a little hope.

The goal is simple: tools that actually work in real life, chosen with both heart and evidence in mind.

On the “about me” side of things: I’m a husband and dad of seven (yes, seven!). I hold First Class Honours in Teaching and a Business (Marketing) degree, and I’ve published on maths pedagogy. In my spare time you’ll find me practicing my drums or performing, and singing in a community choir.

You will also see me tinkering around. I enjoy learning new skills and prolonging the life of things. This was definitely evident in the audacious project to converted a 100-plus-year-old apple shed into a two-storey home, completed in 2019, phew. You can see that journey here at:

If Focus Tools can help a child tune in, give a teacher five precious minutes back, or make a family’s day a little easier, then I’m doing what I set out to do. That’s the heart behind this work—and the reason I’m glad you’re here.
